I am planning to teach our Human Biology (Bio 2, non-lab) this coming fall on an online platform. As I have been thinking about how to convince our colleagues to adopt the theme-based Why Biology text. I have signed on to get access to the book and will see how this could fit in to our one-semester course. You may know Bio 2 is currently using Mader and Windelspecht. So the advantage is there. The only issue is coverage of the organ systems. I wonder if the unit on organ systems is closed to finish or not. It would be great if it is ready by this fall. I’d also like to look at the adaptive learning part of the digital version. In the spring, Dr. Sandra Hutchinson is teaching two online sections of Bio 2. If someone will contact her and make her aware of this digital package, it would be easy for both of us to make the switch happen. Once this is done, I would like to work on our Bio 3 (with lab) course. Please let me know if you have questions or if there is anything I can do to facilitate this. Thanks. This survey course explores the principles of biology using humans as examples. It includes introductions to the scientific method, cell biology, heredity, evolution, human ecology, behavior, and the major concepts of structure, function and pathology of most organ systems. The course may serve as an introduction to the future study of biology, including anatomy and physiology, or stand by itself as a non-lab life science course for general education students.
